In order to upgrade the condition of schools in every constituency of Jammu and Kashmir, Centre has given a grant of Rs 60 crore to J&K govt under Rashtriya Madhyamic Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA).
The scheme plans to upgrade 69 high schools and higher secondary schools across the state. The state government has decided to spend Rs 58 lakh on construction of additional rooms and 15 lakh for science laboratories in each newly upgraded high and higher secondary schools.
Further, the govt has earmarked Rs 25,000 for renovation of each high school infrastructure and Rs 50,000 for higher secondary school infrastructure under RMSA.
Socio-political turbulence and other agitations have frequently disturbed studies in the state. Either the schools are closed for safety purposes or are forced to remain closed.
